Chertsey Museum

Chertsey Museum is the borough museum for Runnymede, Chertsey, Addlestone, Egham, Thorpe, Ottershaw & villages. Its changing exhibitions display and interpret the history of the local area from prehistoric to modern times.

As well as housing the Borough collection the museum is also home to the nationally significant Olive Matthews Collection of fashionable dress. The Olive Matthews Collection Trust works in partnership with Runnymede Borough Council to provide a free and accessible museum service for all.

Whether it be a general visit to the museum or participation in one of our regular family-friendly events, there is something for all ages at Chertsey Museum. From our popular Museum Monkeys under 5s club, to our free monthly drop-in craft activity on the first Saturday of each month, to our holiday activities there’s always plenty going on. Schools & Teachers

Chertsey Museum runs a School Membership Scheme which, for a small annual fee, offers use of our loan box and resource packs service (at no extra charge), REDUCED RATES for talks, object handling sessions and all-day activity sessions. Adult & Community

Chertsey Museum adult and community programme offers talks and workshops on the latest exhibitions, group and society visits, or simply a beautiful Regency house to explore.

Adults: Our talks, demonstrations and workshops link with temporary exhibitions and regional and national themed events. If you’re feeling crafty, our monthly tutor-led Creative Craft sessions are great fun for developing skills or simply to explore your creative side.

Community groups: We host scouts and guides evenings, local history societies and U3A, as well as a flexible programme for specific needs such as reminiscence and dementia.
