Summer Fun in Surrey Museums & Galleries
Create art, discover dinosaurs, ride steam trains, explore archaeology, meet farm animals, enjoy classic cars, Yeehaw your summer away - or you may even find a lobster or two.
Surrey has over 40 museums, galleries and heritage sites. We say ‘museums’ to keep it simple.
Did you know there have been world-famous royals, artists, writers, musicians, actors, pioneers and politicians all from Surrey? Not only that, but world-class arts, crafts, industries and sports too?
On every museum visit, you’ll be inspired by stunning artefacts, buildings and stories of these people, places and events that have shaped Surrey’s remarkable history.
What will you discover today?
Surrey has some of the most fascinating and important history of all counties. It is the perfect mix of a beautiful and varied landscape, closeness to London and good trade routes to the coast that have been attracting people here for thousands of years. Each one has left their stamp on the county’s heritage. Our museums bring their unique stories and artefacts alive through their changing programmes of exhibitions and events. No matter what your interest, you’ll discover something for everyone all year round.

Meet the lobster who conquered Pop Art in Philip Colbert’s first UK museum show. Warhol’s ‘cheeky godson’ takes visitors through a visually stunning universe of monumental paintings and shaped canvases where art history collides with popular culture and contemporary digital life. Large and small, our museums and galleries are a central point of connection in their local communities. This month we shine a spotlight on the brilliant community activity from one of our smaller, volunteer-run museums over in the East of Surrey. Find out what’s been keeping them busy and what events are planned – including free Summer Holiday children’s crafts.
