Opening Times

The Memorial is open every day except Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, as follows:
1 February until 31 October:
Weekdays: 08.30 – 18.00 or dusk, whichever is sooner.
Weekends and Public Holidays: 10.00 – 18.00 or dusk, whichever is sooner.

1 November until 31 January:
Weekdays: 08.30 – 16.00 or dusk, whichever is sooner.
Weekends and Public Holidays: 10.00 – 16.00 or dusk, whichever is sooner.

Schools & Teachers

Our Public Engagement team and volunteer guides deliver tours of the memorial to show the Commonwealth contribution in the Second World War.

Learn the brave stories of those commemorated on the memorial by joining one of our tours tailored to all age ranges. This tour will emphasise the importance of remembrance and the tragic stories of those who lost their lives.

We can also visit your school for a pre visit talk and workshop.

Students & Young People

Over 20,000 who were lost in operations over Britain and northern and western Europe are commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial.

You can learn more about the men and women commemorated on Runnymede who came from all parts of the Britain, the Commonwealth and beyond, including some from countries in continental Europe which had been overrun but whose airmen continued to fight in the ranks of the Royal Air Force.

They fought to keep the skies above Britain free from German menace, hunted for U-boats in the North Sea and Atlantic, supported the land forces and took the fight to the enemy on bombing raids over Axis territory.

From the north end rises a tower, evocative of an airfield control tower, the top of which offers spectacular views out across the Thames Valley towards Windsor Castle, Heathrow and London.

The Noor Inayat-Khan exhibition is a permanent digital exhibition at the CWGC’s Runnymede Memorial.

The public will be able to explore the remarkable story of undercover agent Noor Inayat-Khan, who is commemorated at Runnymede Memorial, the memorial that remembers more than 20,000 air forces personnel killed in the Second World War, who have no known grave.

We also offer guided tours by volunteers if preferable.

The exhibition is digital and free to access through a smart phone or tablet.You will be able to connect to the exhibition using wireless technology at Runnymede.

Visitors will need to bring a smart phone or a device to access the exhibition and it is only available at Runnymede Memorial.

Full instructions on how to connect to the wireless technology are located at the memorial.

There are no phones or devices to hire at the site. The CWGC has installed Info-point at Runnymede. Info-Point is a free local web.

Using it does not require the downloading of data, so it will not affect your data allowance.
