Guildford Museum

Guildford  Museum sits at the edge of the Castle grounds, housed in a beautiful Grade II listed building just a few minutes from Guildford’s historic high street.The Museum is free to visit and includes a variety of changing exhibitions as well as a permanent collection of artefacts.

Explore Guildford Museum and discover the unique story of the town and local area. You’ll find displays taking us from Prehistory through Roman, Saxon and Medieval times; the Scullery- a themed play area for children, and themed displays on Trade and Industry, Textiles, Childhood, Lewis Carroll and Gertrude Jekyll and many Guildford Stories.

As well as the museum, Guildford Borough Council Heritage Services manages and cares for a portfolio of heritage buildings of significant historic interest, protected by listed status within conservation areas. These include the medieval Guildford Castle, The Undercroft; the 14th century Wanborough Barn, the Guildhall and Guildford House Gallery

Most of our public activities happen in Guildford Museum, the Castle and Guildford House Gallery which hosts a programme of changing exhibitions.
