Where the walk is a work of art. Painshill is a beautiful award-winning 18th century landscape garden. A masterpiece, inspired by landscape painting, Painshill is a series of dramatically placed follies and simply stunning views.
The 158 acre estate has something for everyone and makes a great day out. Explore this living canvas and discover garden buildings like the Ruined Abbey, the Temple of Bacchus and the Turkish Tent as well as the incredible Crystal Grotto. Stroll around a splendid Serpentine Lake, wander through woodland and amble along the vines of the Painshill vineyard.
Being along a picnic or visit their Tea Room to complete your day. For families there is a natural play area and wildlife trails. Dogs are very welcome on short leads.

Children & Families

Painshill makes a fun and informative day out for families. Get back to nature and really enjoy the outdoors in this 158 acre site. Collect outdoor activity cards and wildlife spotting trails at the Visitor Centre and head out into a beautiful space to walk, run, climb trees and more.

Don’t miss the Painshill Grotto, a sparkling crystal covered cave that amazes people of any age. Learn how the place was designed, created and restored. Find out more about English landscape gardening as you immerse yourself in a living work of art.
There is a natural play area and picnic space perfect for families and a Tea Room with a children’s menu. Children under 5 are allowed a bike or scooter to help them get around the landscape and there is a fully accessible shorter router for little legs or those with buggies.

Painshill offers a broad range of outdoor learning activities for school visits.
Activities are suitable for Early Years, Key Stage 1, Key Stage 2 & Key Stage 3 curriculums. The experienced Education Team can also offer bespoke outdoor learning activities.

With acres of natural and historic landscape, magical follies and a crystal Grotto, Painshill offers you the chance to discover, explore and learn in an inspiring and safe environment. With a well-equipped Education Centre and woodland picnic area, Painshill provides outdoor learning for single classes and whole year groups all year round.
