Shere Museum

Situated in a picturesque village, the many displays show objects of daily life with tools, toys, domestic items and clothing mainly from Victorian times to the 1950s. There are artefacts and displays on Shere’s connection with film and photography, as well as the life and works of architect Edwin Lutyens. There is also an extensive collection of archival and reference material which includes old photographs, records, maps, society records, parish magazines – all of which are a rich resource for researching family and local history in the surrounding area.

The archives have provided exhibition material for organisations such as The British Red Cross, The Women’s Institute and The Scout Association, and have also been drawn upon for events such as the Parish Council Centenary, Shere Local History symposia and Shere School reunions.
